Iron and Thick Healthy Hair Did you know that 1 in 4 North American women has low iron or iron deficiency anemia? Among the other, more well known symptoms like fatigue and pale skin, being low in iron can cause hair loss! Hair follicles contain ferritin (a protein found inside cells that store iron for later use). When ferritin stores decline inside the hair follicle, the hair is in danger.
